Using photoshop to edit the front cover Image
I began altering the Front cover image by editing the eyes. This took a lot of time to complete and as many sections of editing.
Once I had enhanced the look of the eye, I needed to edit the eye makeup. I did this by adding more eyelashes and more eyeliner.
I then editted the skin and added more makeup to make the face look flawless! I also changed the lighting of the lips to make them appear bright...

Editing the Front cover Image
This is the front cover image without any alteration...
In order for this image to look more appealing I need to edit it in Photoshop. The options that I shall edit are as follows:

- The eyes. Using Photoshop, I shall make the eyes appear brighter and add more eyelashes and eyeliner. This should enhance the eyes and attract attention.
- The skin, there is not much editing needed here, but is shall get rid of any blemishes to ensure that the overall look is flawless.
- Additional makeup. I shall make the image more powerful by enhancing the colour of the face and lips.

Producing the Main Photograph
These following images are the select photos that I have taken, as possibilities for the Front cover image. The model is my friend Charlotte, I decided to take photos of her for my magazine as I feel she has an appropriate look, her hair style and clothing fits into the Indie/ Rock genre in which I am using to create my magazine.

Process of making the Heading
Once I had decided on the font type I needed to edit it on Photoshop, to give it the perfect look for the front cover of my magazine.
In Order to create this 'Perfect' look I had to go through various stages of editing.
These are the steps that I took to create the final piece:
This is a print screen of the heading without alteration. The font used is called "28 Days Later", the effect of the font is quite interesting to look at and compliments the name of the title with the unfinished look. However, looking at it without any editing, it does not seem to have a prominent affect that looks professional.
This is a print screen of the Heading with a Drop Shadow. The drop shadow makes the font clear and clearly appears above the surface of the background. I feel that the use of a drop shadow make the text look more professional.
This print screen includes the font with a Drop Shadow and another editing affect called, Stoke. The use of Stoke outlines the text making it clear and easy to read. The colour of the stroke is black as this colour clearly defines the letters. I have also increased the width of the Stroke so that it is easily visible.
This final print screen is of the Heading with the effect of, Drop Shadow, Stroke and Inner Glow.
Inner Glow is an effect feature on Photoshop that adds a light, glowing colour to the inside edges of the letters. I feel that this effect makes the text brighter and therefore more appealing.
I am very pleased with the overall effect of the heading and feel that the final product fits the purpose. It looks professional, and has an edgy current appearance that is 'Perfect' for my magazine!

Editting the Heading

After placing the final font onto my front cover photo,I decided that the red colour was too contrasting against the image.
I decided to change the colour of the font using the eye drop tool on Photoshop. This tool enables the user to exact colour from any part of the image and then place it in desried areas. I exacted colours from various parts of the clothing and from the eye. I then placed the colour onto the font. This enabled the font to TIE IN with the image, so that it is less constrasting and easy to look at.

Mood Board
Once I produced the heading of the magazine, I needed to crack on with constructing the Front cover image. I decided to gather the photos of various music artists that have inspired me and influenced my thoughts on how the main image should look…
This Mood Board is a collection of photographs that have inspired the production of my front page photo. The photos are of popular singers and a well-known unique model. The aspects I like most from these photos is the direstion of the gaze. In almost every photo, the model is looking directly into the camera, this produces a personal connection with the photo and the viewer and also draws attention to the image. Also, I perfer the use of a black background in comparision to the white. I feel that the black colour makes the image more powerful and intriging. In every photo the facial look is a glaring expression that is quite plain (the model is not posing as such)yet has a serious look. I like this as it has an intersting appearance that fits into the Indie Rock genre.
Choosing the font

After deciding that Underground was to be the name of my magazine, I began to create the design of the title. I altered the font using Photoshop. I also changed the colours to see which was most appealing. I feel that the font at the top of the list has the most potential. The design is edgy and connotates the underground. It also has a contemporary, new, feel to it. I also like the font colour, red. From my research of music magazines, the font colour is usually red, for example, NME magazine. Once I had selected the font and colour I played around on Photoshop to produce an overall affect that I shall use for my magazine. The font has been edited in various ways to give this final effect...
Choosing the Heading
In order to create my magazine I first of all needed to come up with the Main Heading. From looking at current music magazines I realised that the title must be simple yet remain effective and eye-catching. This made the task quite difficult.
I decided to create a list of possible names and ask my colluges which name they prefer. This table show the results:
The results give four popular outcomes, these are:
- Lyric
- Underground
- Crescendo
- Base
All of these relate to music in various ways. In order to retrain my final selection for the heading I created another list and asked a selection of people from my class to select their favourite title.
Underground was the most popular choice. The word 'Underground' relates perfectly to contemporary, urban and alternative music. Underground music falls under the Indie/Rock music genre, which is appropriate for my music magazine.
